The Hebrew phrase Tikkun Olam means ‘making the world a better place’.
This is among top priorities of the Kehilat HaKerem Masorti Congregation in Karmiel, Northern Israel.
And further to what the congregation accomplishes in outreach to Druze and Arabs and associations with Beit-Gil Akim and the Irisim School, individual members and supporters are encouraged to improve the world in ways which are meaningful to them.
One is an active volunteer in Tsalachat Chama; another
helps people to develop skills which facilitate gainful employment and a third visits and assists individuals and families in conjunction with Bituach Leumi (National Insurance).
Still more volunteer weekly on IDF army bases; for the Israel Cancer Association, Keren B’Yachad and Yad Labanim.
The next venture of the Keren B’Yachad group is its annual concert featuring young musicians. The recital is at the Karmiel Music Conservatoire on Sunday 18 March (7.30 p.m.). Entrance (35 NIS) include refreshments.
